Let's throw together a greener future - Week of Sustainability with the Green University Program of the UP between 24-28th April

Between 24-28th of April, the Week of Sustainability will take place at the University of Pécs, which has been chosen as the 21st greenest higher education institution in the world. The focus of the week is on aluminum, a packaging material that can be recycled in practically countless ways if handled with the right awareness. During the week implemented within the framework of the Green University Program of the UP, the Great Aluminium Collection Wall will be set up at the Medical School, where empty aluminum cans can be deposited all week long, and those who collect aluminum selectively will also receive a gift.

The event, organized in cooperation between the UP and Hell Energy Hungary Ltd., aims to highlight the importance of the selective collection of aluminum, emphasizing that the widely used lightweight metal is essentially a packaging material with a lifetime: it can be recycled 100% without any deterioration.

Few people know that 75% of the aluminum ever produced is still in circulation today. Recycling saves a lot of energy: the amount of energy needed to produce one new aluminum can from primary production is enough to produce 20 recycled aluminum cans, and recycling one can saves enough energy to watch two hours of TV.

During the Week of Sustainability, from Monday 24th April to Friday 28th April, a Large Aluminium Collection Wall will be set up in the old theoretical block of the Medical School, in front of the entrance to the Dr. György Romhányi auditorium, where empty aluminum cans can be thrown.

If you do so, not only will the planet be grateful, but the organizers will also give you gifts for your environmental awareness. The more empty cans you bring in, the more valuable the gifts you will be rewarded with, plus if you fill in the questionnaire available at the hostesses, you will get an extra surprise.

The hostesses are welcoming everyone who is concerned about the environment from 9 am to 3 pm Monday to Thursday and from 8 am to 2 pm on Fridays.
