Plastic-free July 2022

Background: Plastic-Free July was launched in Australia in 2011 as an awareness-raising and attitude-changing initiative to encourage people to use as little disposable plastic as possible. It has grown so much that last year more than 100 million people from 190 countries around the world took up the challenge. By rejecting single-use plastic products and being more resourceful and less wasteful, participants have reduced their plastic consumption by an astonishing 300 million kg!

Let's set an example together! By joining the Plastic-Free July challenge, we can do our part to reduce the amount of plastic we use in our everyday lives.

There are many ways we can reduce the amount of waste we produce and minimize our plastic use. However, it would be difficult to incorporate all the rules into our lives overnight, so it is worth taking a step-by-step approach. As a first step, you can join this international challenge in the colours of the UP, because even small actions can make a big difference! Every green step counts! We want to help you to make your plastic-free month easier. All you have to do in July is follow the Green University Program of the UP on Facebook and Instagram. Every day, we'll give you ideas and daily tips for the 31 days of the month, in a thematic breakdown that changes from week to week.

To get your creative energies flowing, we invite you to play a game. Send us your plastic-free July routine in the form of photos or ideas to zoldegyetem@pte.hu. In return, we'll draw UP gift packs from all those who send in. Winners will be notified by email in August.
