On 28th February, the UP Green University Program Office and the 10 Million Trees Foundation initiated the creation of a Miyawaki forest on the institution's Ijfúság út campus in connection with National Tree Planting Day. As part of the project, the organizers, along with staff and students from the Faculty of Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the College for Sustainable Development, created a 30 m² mini-forest.
The Miyawaki forest is a unique, very dense plant community created on a few dozen square meters, named after the Japanese botanist and plant ecologist Miyawaki Akira, which allows dense, biodiverse communities similar to natural forests to be created even in urban concrete jungles.
