The Hungarian Hospital Association announced the Green Hospital Award for the first time this year. The aim of the award is to recognize and support hospitals that are committed to sustainability and environmental awareness and that have introduced and maintained exemplary solutions in these areas.
The competition was announced in several categories, and the Clinical Center of the University of Pécs won first place in the category with its application submitted on the topic of water management. One of the water-saving measures introduced was the installation of aerators at water outlets, and some of the taps were replaced with infrared fittings. Among the sustainability initiatives, the "Bring your water bottle and refill it!" campaign is popular, which drew attention to the reduction of plastic bottles and the promotion of environmentally conscious water consumption.
With its complex application, the UP Clinical Center also won the Green Hospital Award, which included, among other things, the introduction of energy efficiency measures and conscious waste management in addition to water management. The applications were compiled by the staff of the Chancellery's Operations and Investment Directorate, and the award was accepted at the congress by Director Tímea Zalay-Cseresznyés and Andor Sebestyén, President of the Clinical Center.
