Eco-friendly Talent Development Club


Within the framework of the NTP-Talent 2024. 0043 tender, 24 students from grades 1-3 of the UP-Affiliated Practical Elementary School and High School No.1 participated in a series of workshops entitled "Eco-Friends" to nurture their talent in natural sciences. Teachers Tímea Józsa and Gabriella Richter expanded the knowledge of students interested in natural sciences through experiments, observations, measurements, field exercises, and interesting and challenging activities. The collaborative group work was followed by leisure activities.

Alfa-Z: Greener Parties - How Can We Make a Festival More Environmentally Conscious?


Festivals are not only entertaining, but also have a huge environmental impact. Márk Zsolnai, a student at the Faculty of Law of the UP, shows how these events can be made greener. Modern festivals produce waste and emit carbon dioxide, but what if we could reduce all that? The world's leading green festivals, such as Fusion in Germany and Glastonbury, are already setting an example with locally produced cutlery, sustainable food, and solar energy. Sustainability is not a dream, but a achievable future. How can we achieve this in Hungary? 





Sustainability from an economist's perspective


The University Library and Knowledge Center of the University of Pécs held its final lecture of the semester on 27th May as part of its "Green Library" program series, which took a critical look at the sustainability of current economic and social systems. Dr. Katalin Erdős, associate dean and assistant professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics, analyzed global challenges from an economic perspective, balancing theory and practical experience.





An exemplary result from the "Jakabhegy Dormitory"


In the April water conservation challenge, Jakabhegy College came in first place. Similar to the previous month's energy conservation challenge, the initiative encouraged college students to be more environmentally conscious. On 16th May, the residents of Jakabhegy Dormitory took possession of their prize, the "UP Green University Experience Corner."





The "Boszorkány Dormitory" was the most cost-efficient!


In spring 2025, the UP Green University Program Office, in cooperation with the University Student Council, launched the Green University Ambassador program in five dormitories in Pécs, in which students helped each other to develop a more conscious lifestyle and reduce the electricity consumption of the dormitories.





Alfa-Z – sustainability with a youthful approach


It focuses on sustainability, but what makes the program unique is that the concise presentations are given by university students. The visuals and the brevity of the presentations are not without reason. The creators of the program want to address the younger generation with very serious topics. The series is part of the UP Green University program.

Cycle for change – The University of Pécs is doing just that


25 bicycles, 25 new commitments to sustainability, ceremoniously handed over by the Green University Program Office of the UP and the Sports Office of the UP to employees, as part of the "Cycle to work at the university!" initiative, which is now in its second year of encouraging the institution's employees to come to work on two wheels.





Children's voices on buses in Pécs - UP-Affiliated Practical Primary School No.1


A special surprise awaits passengers on bus routes 2 and 103 in Pécs in May. Class I B students at the UP-Affiliated Practical Primary School No.1 recorded the names of the Tüke Bus stops, which can be heard in their voices throughout May. The students of the UP-Affiliated Practical Primary School No.1, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, recorded the names of 42 stops in the TV studio of the University of Pécs.
