London-based Times Higher Education has published the latest university rankings. The University of Pécs has also been added to the list of the best 150 universities in 93 countries of the world, as the best hungarian country university!
Semmelweis University ranked 401-500 th place in the Times Higher Education ranking, while the University of Eötvös Loránd and the University of Pécs were ranked 601-800 th. This represents a category of progress compared to last year for the UP.
The world ranking measures institutions based on indicators of five main areas: educational environment, research, citation, industrial revenues and international orientation. This result is therefore a very complex measure, and the increase in scientific performance in recent years certainly plays a role in the progress of the University of Pécs. Moreover, the institution is becoming increasingly popular among foreign students, the number of whom, as the rector Attila Miseta said in his opening speech for the year, already exceeds 5,000. It is clear that outstanding number has also contributed to this high ranking.
Rector Attila Miseta pointed out on the basis of the result: „An important strategic objective of the University of Pécs is to move forward in international rankings. In this epidemiological situation, this may be even more important, as competition for foreign students is even sharper. We also place great accent on improving our infrastructure in parallel with high-quality education"The tangible result of this is the number of investments that are being made or coming soon to be completed by the Modern Cities Program," said the rector.
