The UP defended its title in 2024, receiving the " Cycling-Friendly Workplace" title for the fourth consecutive year. Twenty-six municipalities and 33 workplaces applied for the 2024 competition, with 11 municipalities and 12 companies and institutions receiving the title. The winners can use the Cycling-Friendly title and logo for one year. The aim of the award is to recognize workplaces that make an outstanding contribution to promoting and supporting environmentally friendly forms of transport.
6th March – Energy efficiency takes center stage
Today we celebrate World Energy Efficiency Day!
On 28th February, the UP Green University Program Office and the 10 Million Trees Foundation initiated the creation of a Miyawaki forest on the institution's Ijfúság út campus in connection with National Tree Planting Day.
A Pécsi Tudományegyetem Zöld Egyetem Programiroda és a 10 Millió Fa Alapítvány kezdeményezésében február 28-án PTE Miyawaki erdőt alakítottak ki az intézmény Ijfúság úti campusán kapcsolódva a Nemzeti Faültetés Napjához. A projekt keretében a szervezők mellett a Természettudományi Kar, a Bölcsészet- és Társadalomtudományi Kar és a Fenntartható Fejlődésért Szakkollégium munkatársai és hallgatói egy 30 négyzetméteres minierdőt hoztak létre.
Február 19-én a Tudásközpontban megtartott átfogó és informatív előadásában dr. Német Béla, a PTE TTK Fizikai Intézetének nyugdíjazott egyetemi docense olyan nemzetközi, állami és egyéni szintű cselekvési lehetőségekről számolt be, melyek egy fenntartható jövő előfeltételei. Prezentációját Alkalmazkodási lehetőségünk az éghajlatváltozáshoz címen a PTE Egyetemi Könyvtár és Tudásközpont Zöld Könyvtár előadássorozatának részeként mutta be.

On 7th February, 2025, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics organized a workshop entitled "Results and experiences in the process of making universities sustainable," at which the University of Pécs was also represented with a presentation.
Students from the Babits Mihály High School of the University of Pécs took part in an exemplary initiative again this year, aimed at helping a disadvantaged family. As part of their mandatory 50 hours of community service, the students "manufactured" paper briquettes from waste paper, sawdust, and water, which will provide enough heating for an entire heating season.

The University of Pécs once again achieved an outstanding position in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in 2024, finishing 25th out of 1,477 universities in 95 countries. With this, the UP not only earned the title of Hungary's greenest university for the fifth time, but also further strengthened its position among the international leaders in sustainability-oriented universities.
