The UP-Affiliated Elementary School and High School No.1 and the UP Green University Program launched an environmentally conscious, playful camp for the second time this year for children aged 6-10.
The camp was aimed at children who care about protecting our environment and want to gain insight into the most pressing challenges of sustainability through playful, experimental, and challenging tasks. They visited the market and the Pécs Market Hall, where they got a glimpse behind the scenes. They learned that vegetables and fruits that are no longer suitable for human consumption but still serve as delicacies for animals are delivered to the Pécs Zoo. They got to know local farmers and learned what they do. They bought from them and then made their own pickles. In the Botanical Garden of the University of Pécs, they learned about interesting plants during an escape room game. At the Drótszamár Highway Code Park, conscious transportation was combined with fun and entertainment and sports. At Malomvölgyi Lake, they experimented with water. They even designed their own planet. They also learned about nature in the Fairy Tale Forest of Mecsek. Zümi, the floor robot, helped them several times during the challenges. The participants shared their experiences from the camp with their families. We are confident that they will develop environmentally conscious action plans to protect our planet, Earth.
