The wine of the Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology of the UP has been given gold medal on International Competition
775 samples from 15 countries took part in hungary's most prestigious wine competition in Szekszárd in the middle of summer. Summa Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 vintage wine from Pécs was also awarded gold in the quality VinAgora international competition!
Among the gold-medal-winning wines is summa cabernet sauvignon 2017, named by the Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology of the UP, which is the "sister" of Summa Merlot, an outstanding success of last year, and the soon-to-be-released sequel to the wine series.
László Hevér, chief winemaker of the research institute, said in connection with the fantastic result:
Summa is a Latin term that means amount, peak, and completeness. Cabernet sauvignon comes from the highest-lying areas of the research institute estate, at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. It was made with open tub fermentation, followed by 9 months of maturation in Hungarian, French and American oak barrels.
The best barrels were blended into the bottle, pointed the chief winemaker.
