Sponge City at the FAO's 80th anniversary celebration


It was a great honor for the University to be invited to the FAO's 80th anniversary celebration and the Rome Water Dialogue 2025 event, where global leaders discussed sustainable water management and the fight against climate change.

The Sponge City project was recognized by the FAO for its innovative approach, which uses nature-based solutions such as rain gardens and permeable pavements to manage urban flash floods.





The Green Future of Aviation: The University of Pécs Joins an International Research Project


The University of Pécs (PTE) is taking part in an international research project seeking answers to one of the most pressing questions about the future of aviation: how can we produce environmentally friendly, synthetic aircraft fuel? The three-year project, titled SUSGREEN, aims to replace petroleum-based fuels with greener alternatives and thereby reduce the ecological footprint of air travel.Hydrogen plays a key role in this process.





Together for the Smallest Heroes: Run for Cancer Cure 2025


A record number of more than 2,700 registrants supported this year’s University of Pécs “Run for Cancer Cure!” charity run, contributing to the recovery of children battling cancer. The entire proceeds of HUF 8,402,500 were donated to the Eurakvilo Paediatric Oncology ans Children's Hospice Public Foundation.It was already clear during pre-registration that on 13 September a huge crowd would gather in Széchenyi Square and the city centre of Pécs for the charity run. Over 500 additional participants registered on the spot, contributing nearly HUF 2 million to Eurakvilo.
